About us
HABEO is a non profit organization created in 2002.
From 2004 to 2008 the organization run a phone number for the Ile de France dedicated to people facing mistreatments against elderly or disabled persons.
Since February 2008, the system has been developped on the whole territory, with a specific phone number: 3977.
The organization is based on public grants.
The 3977 organization is based on coordination between:
- national easy to remember phone number (3977) : professionals are listening to mistreatment situations; This number is available from Monday through Friday 9 am - 7 pm.
- Local help and counsel, tendind towards mediation more than prosecution.
The system is using the experience of long installed non profit organizations and government services.
It is the achievement of numerous local initiatives, offering today the same service to the whole territory.
On most of the territory, the local help is provided by the ALMA France network. The other partners can be the Conseil Général (county council), DDASS, non profit organization working with the county council.
